Fixing Plaster Mold Flaws

Recommended Posts

Where are the chips and how big. A pic would be very helpful.

I repair flaws in a POP mold by mixing a small amount of plaster. This mixture has to be quite a bit more fluid than what you mixed to pour the mold. Then you take smal amounts of the mixture and fill in the flaws. You may have to apply the repair in a couple of layers especially if the mold is dry. Once you have the repair done and dry you can seal the mold.

I did try on another mold i made as a test to get a feel for what i'm doing , but i think the mix was too thick...it set up as i was trying to apply it .Also, this stuff doesn't seem to be sandable at all. I will try going much thinner. I was wondering if there is a wood fill or maybe bondo or something like that that will work

mod podge is good, but pretty thick. i use it on the outside of my molds. i use elmers glue & water 50/50 for the inner cavity. some people use thinned down epoxy, i cant really comment on that other than elmers is a lot cheaper & cleaner to work with.
