Braided Line
Is that possible? Can a poster edit or delete a post ? If yes. How? All that after it has been posted.
RayburnGuy
You can edit or delete a post as long as you do it shortly after posting. There is a time limit to do this and I'm not exactly sure how long you have to do it. Once you've posted a a message there should be buttons in the lower right hand corner of the post that show up to edit or delete your message. Check out the picture below for the "edit" button. Lincoya
I believe that edit or delete your post until someone views it. After that it's there for posterity. Gene
Vodkaman
There used to be a fifteen minute window, but a lot of site upgrades since I made that observation. Dave
Braided Line
Thanks for the input guys. Will be mindful of that in the future. Although, I don`t see why there is a time limit on the post to either edit or delete. There are times when you post something and later (next day, whenever) you find you`ve made a error in your comments or were way off base. Could be other valid reasons as well. Other forums allow the poster to delete at any time, for what ever reason,. Not beating a dead horse here just wondering.
redg8r
It's @ 15 min to edit/delete posts. There's an array of reasons why we chose to do this & it's been our policy for a long time. Especially in the classifieds, where unscrupulous sellers might alter product descriptions, prices or other terms after an agreed sale. The decision was made after a incidents involving members deleting posts, comments and attachments from hundreds of topics, essentially rendering the topics incoherent. There's more, but I hope that helps convey the point as to why. We're expecting the ability (soon) to be able to keep a backup log of all edits/deletions of content & being able to restore them if deemed necessary. Once that's available we would consider lifting the timelimits. Hope that helps, Jerry PS, if you need a post edited or removed after the cutoff, contact a moderator & they can assist.
