jimbobwj
I've never attempted pouring my own baits before, but I thought I'd like to make a two piece POP mold for a swimbait lure with a segmented body similiar to the Lake Fork Magic Shad. I only intend on making a few lures for my own use, and do not want to go to the expense of an injector. My question is, with hand pouring will the plastic be able to make it through the thin segments of the mold? Should I vent this proposed mold? Any information or advice will be appreciated. finesse1331
I have made alot of 2 piece POP and resin molds with tiny appendages (sp) that fill up fine with the proper venting. Some molds don't even have to be vented depending on the size of the segment you are trying to pour. I would make the mold, seal it, then pour some plastic and see if the cavity fills, you can see where it would need to be vented if it did. I pour my plastic at a little higher temperature than normal to get it to fill certain molds.
