Bassinfool
Has anyone here used the spike it lure dyes? I have used nothing but lure craft with great results but spike it has some great prices on their dyes. Just looking for someone with some experience with these dyes and whether or not you'd recommend them.
Cub48
I have been using the spike it pens for about 2 months. I paint the top of my baby shads which are white i take the blue pen put a blue stripe down it. May put a little red or orange on the belly. The only thing you don't want to do too many as it will fade a little and may bleed. One other thing is i was dipping my baby shad last year in the bottles if you got the spike it where the hook went through it would react and it would break off at the hook. Have not used to dye the whole thing would work ok i think. Cub48.
Bassinfool
I think I worded my question badly, I was referring to the dropper bottles of dye like you would get from Bear's or LureCraft not the chatreuse or pink dyes you use out on the boat to dip tails. Bass-Boys
the spike-it ( lure works ) plasisol pigment and dyes are very good, you will find that some times the colors called the same name may not be the exact color from different suppliers but they all work good, some are stronger and you use less drops. carolinamike
Bassinfool, the best thing to do is to contact Bruce at LureWorks, tell him what you are trying to achieve and the application that you are wanting to use. He is very knowledgeable in all of the products they sell that way you will know if need retarder or not, some of their paints dry very very quickly. He can be reached at extension 106. That will save you a whole lot of trial and error.
Bassinfool
Thanks Mike, I will shoot him a call or an email sometime today or tomorrow. I'm just injecting small batches for myself, friends and local customers so the better the price I can get on the things I need to make baits the more I can translate that into a better cost for the people I sell to. They've got some great colors as well as glitters at lure works so that's what has me so interested because they are priced incredibly well.
