cbj11lbs
Hey everyone......do any of you know what manufacturers the large companies like big bites, berkley, zoom, culprit etc. use for their glitter and colorants? They all seem to have really good glitter that doesnt bend or bleed especially purple. Ive had trouble with purple glitters the most by far and had trouble with large square cut glitter from lureworks. Most of the materials I get are really good and make great baits but it appears to me the big boys have something I dont have. Thanks guys
Frank
They use a machine that does not give the glitter a chance to bleed. The color is not held at high temp for a long time so bleeding is not an issue. High heat is not good even for good glitter as it will break down in time too. mark poulson
Zoom's green pumpkin fades to plain pumpkin in the sun, too.
MonteSS
Best 040 purple flake I have used (and I tried them all) is from Michaels craft store. Big 8 oz bottle is $4.99 and print a 40% coupom from their webpage makes it only $3. ....Bill

carolinamike
Frank's dead on the money about machine made products. Heat exchangers are emptying out as much as a pound of plastic every minute and a half to three minutes, so the heat time is always kept to a minimum. That's one of the reasons that runners work so well as remelts. They have very little heat time. When it comes to purple flake, it can be really hard to deal with. Heat seems to affect it more than any other color. I've tried so many different purple flakes from small companies to large companies. The biggest I use is the .035 and I've got to say that Lureworks has been the best when it comes to fading. But there again, temperature is the biggest factor in this. I'm talking about their purple flake, not grape. But anytime that you're getting flake fade or flake curling, you need to lower your temperature.
