jigmeister
Though I have no intention of selling any of the lures I'm making out of the Calhouns equivelent plastic I bought from "Tubeman" but after reading up some more on the Cyber-flexxx products I read that "Z-man fishing products" has exclusive rights to the manufacture and sale of lures made of this stuff. I checked out the patent numbers on a package of Cyber-flexxx baits and all a search yielded was patents on the plastic formulation. I believe you can get a patent on a manufacturing process (making worms out of this stuff?) but found nothing relating to this in my search . Could the exclusive rights between Z-man products and the chemical company making the Cyber-flexxx plastic only be for an agreement not to sell its plastic to other lure manufacturers? Thanks,Jigmeister
nova
Seems to me that it would only require a letter of agreement drawn up between the two partys and their lawyers. I really don't think a patent would be used for this purpose. You can patent a design or a process but not an agreement.
Tubeman
Not to worry, its not the same formula. Its very similar to what Cabela's sells. You can sell any of your lures without legal repercussions.
