How Much Salt For Neutral Buoyancy

I am using CC soft plastic and without salt it floats a bit.  For a drop-shot bait it would seem that a neutrally buoyant bait  would be best.  Any formula for how much salt to add to achieve that?

cant speak for CC plastic, but ive been doing about an 8:1 mix with soft plastic and its been floating great.

If you're using an open pour, try powdering the top of your worms with salt while they're still hot.

Does it still float with the hook in it?

it all depends on how big the bait is and how big the hook is.

 

with a soft plastic and 8:1 mix, my drop shot worms float fine with a nose hook. if i put a full 3/0 hook in it or something im sure it would sink like a rock

Yeah that's a tough recipe to get right... you just have to keep experimenting and keep track of how much you use each time.. I use small graduated cups and mix exactly the amounts of each item. write down each recipe then mark each different lure with a sharpe until you get it the way you want it with the hook you use.  it has to be rigged the way you're going to fish it and the slightest amount of difference will cause some variation.
