patrick reif
http://lurecomponents.worthco.com/ball-bearing-swivels I'm toying with getting into making spinnerbaits. The research I've done here suggests that Worth is the way to go. I can order 1000 for about $475, but I would never use that many. Is there anyone interested in splitting the cost of a bulk order of #2 with two split rings already attached?
smalljaw
The est way to do it is to buy directly from Worth and you buy 1000 swivels and 2000 swivel split rings. The reason for that is you save a lot, the last time I got them the difference was $150-$160, something like that. The split rings Worth makes specifically for their ball bearing swivel are light and they are very easy to put on. I can do rings on 50 swivels in less than 15 minutes and I know it because the last time I was doing it I had just started curing a batch of jigs and I had 57 swivels left to put rings on and I had all but 3 done when the timer for my oven went off which was set to 15 minutes. I just got some not too long ago or I would go in half with you.
patrick reif
appreciate the tip. That is a lot cheaper, and I didn't think about doing that. Edited February 23, 2013 by patrick reif
smalljaw
Patrick, it is $230.00 for 1000 swivels and $18.50 per 1000 split rings, if you get a 1000 swivels and 2000 split rings it will be $267.00 total plus the 10% FE Tax and it comes to $293.70 plus the shipping so 1000 swivels with rings will be around $320 to your door with shipping and everything. So to go in halfs it would be about $160 each which is good considering it is close to 70 bucks on just 100.
Guest Gangel
I'm sure you all remember back to when I had the idea of "item of the month/hook of the month". This is what I was leaning towards. Patrick would like to make spinner baits. Just like a bunch of others here. Now in order to get good prices he has to buy 1000, 2000 of something. Just to make, in my opinion, probably 100 Spinnerbaits. I'm still thinking if we got a theme going, whereas we spent 6 months bulk buying parts to make spinners, or those trout spinners... different blades. I know I'd like to check out those newer style blades that shine with the oil shimmer... but I'm not about to buy 10 of the same color, or spend 2 bucks per blade. The reason I keep bringing this up is that I'm 5 blocks away, give or take, from Worth. And I know they don't like dealing with "little" people. If they can't sell it by the bag, they don't want to. But I think there's potential to do something with them for the little guys.
