percabrutus
I live in the UK and I've just started to make my own Soft Plastic baits. We can't buy CNC molds in the UK so I've imported one from basstackle. It's not cheap with shipping and taxes but I got an injector too and I've been having fun making my 1st swim baits. I'm hoping to pick up some tips from the forum as I've found shooting one bait at a time with a single cavity mold hard going. It's also cold here at the moment so I have to keep reheating my mix in the micro between each one. It's all small stuff for now but I think I might get addicted soon Maybe I've come to the right place for therapy!! Here's some of my 1st color mixes. percabrutus
Welcome to the site. Nice looking bait for a newbie Thanks. They were the good ones. I have had trouble with bubbles. Both small ones in the mix and also getting one big bubble at the nose of the bait. Still got a lot to learn.
carolinamike
Percabrutus, Welcome to TU! The swim baits look great. This is definatly not the place to find help for a plastic addiction, we all encourage the abuse All we can do is help feed your addiction, and by the way if you are married go ahead and buy your wife something very nice and expensive, that will help you when you place your next order for molds and supplies.
percabrutus
I would have to spend a fortune on her if I ever became one of your customers carolinamike! To be honest, I've joined this forum because we have no supply of molds, there's no manufacturing of soft plastics and only one supply of materials in the UK. Making your own SP's is still in it's infancy here, very few pour their own and there maybe a handful that inject their own. We really are missing out. Companies like yours do not exist in the UK. You're light years ahead of us
Vodkaman
Welcome to TU Percabrutus. Like Mike said, you won't find help with the addiction here, this site is for lost souls. Plastic is the worst of the lure addictions, fortunately, I cannot find plastics where I am, though I probably could get molds cut. This is why I do hard baits. I am sure you will find help with your bubble problems here, there must be a thousand threads addressing bubbles. As for the mold (mould) problem, perhaps you should look into making your own, using plaster of paris (PoP) or RTV (room temperature vulcanization) - molding rubber. I suggest PoP first, to get the hang of the mold making process asPoP is cheap. Dave Edited March 9, 2013 by Vodkaman
tupong
Welcome Percabrutus now your here your doomed to wander the form looking for answers to the ever increasing amount of questions that will enter your mind about the addiction you've started. Luckily though this place has one of the best brains trust when it comes to knowledge about making lures. Just be careful though as it starts with something as simple as making a few lures of one particular style like sp's and before you know it you'll be venturing into hardbodies, then wire lures, then pouring lead, and before you know it you'll be a full blown tackle junky regards mick
