carolinamike
A few years back I sent him a hand injection mold and asked for a price quote on reproducing the mold. I was told I would have a price within a week, after a month I was told I would have a price within two weeks, after 8 months I had to call and ask for my mold to be sent back. I did get my mold back within a week but I never recieved the price. That expirience told me all I needed to know.
bflp
If you want a Del-Mart mold buy it thru LureCraft. They will stand behind it and make sure you get what you pay for. From what I understand Del would actually prefer you buy thru LC because then he can spend his time in the shop instead of in the office. I agree. I just did this, worked out very well. yoda
it's only going to take few of those confirmed issues for lurecraft to dump his molds if it's going to affect their reputation and customer base.

smallmouthaholic
and it's only going to take a few more disparaging comments to have this thread locked down Like it or not, Del has a poor reputation for his stated delivery times. He's earned that through piss poor customer service..Deal w/him @ your own risk
yoda
funny how if its positive about this subject than its ok but when someone shares their situation that may not have gone so well its bashing, no one in the above posts said anything personal towards the subject vendor so where does the disparaging remarks come in? mark poulson
Sound like Del is in the same boat as a lot of mom and pop, one man shops. Not enough hours in the day. I came to contracting as a carpenter, and I am still way better at the building part than at the paperwork, even after 35 years. Being a businessman is a whole 'nother animal than being a tradesman. He is probably better off not dealing with the public directly, because he is too small to do that and produce his product at the same time. I'm just saying that the topic is a slippery slope. I'm not bashing anyone here. I'm sorry if I came across like I was
ipt
i think most people around here know that del has some solid molds, in most cases his are about the closest you'll get to a name brand bait. that being said, he seems to be a shop rat rather than a people person. nothing wrong with that, just buy your molds used or from lurecraft. i own a handful of his molds with no complaints, but i wont go thru his site. yoda
I don't believe I've read anything bad about the quality of his molds I happen to have several molds of his and the quality is second to none it's his business model that is subjected to well deserved criticism for his less than desirable customer service but like everyone agrees his relationship with LC has been good for his reputation being repaired and LC is a good group of folks so it's a win/win. patrick reif
The only Del molds I have are top pour, not injection, and a BassTackle injector won't fit the opening. I know I'm using a hammer to do a wrenches job, but injecting is faster and I'm on a limited time constraint. lure_learning
I've bought some used Del-Mart molds on eBay and have been very pleased with the quality. I can't speak for the customer service.
basshunter5
I've haven't ordered any molds from del for awhile now but I've had occasions where I received my molds in a week and a couple other cases where it took 6 months. Molds are always top notch
carolinamike
I don't think there's ever been a post about a poor quality mold from Del. It's always been about poor customer service. I think that if you have bigger fish to fry and you consider some of your customers small potatoes then before taking their order, you should explain that they could be pushed back. Honesty goes a long way when it comes to customer service. In my case, all I wanted was a price estimation, and for someone that claimed to have all this knowledge about reverse engineering, aerospace technology and being a top notch machinist, there's no excuse for not being able to estimate a cost for a project within 8 months. Patrick's right there's been several posts that have been locked or deleted but that was also at a time when Del was a big TU advertiser. There were so many complaints from customers that had already paid for products having to wait very long periods of time and just like myself being constantly told that it was being worked on week after week. Being a part of the fishing industry, we occaisionally run into problems ourselves and things take longer than they should, but I don't just tell my customers something to put them off. I'm straight up and honest with my customers. Sure machines break down, supplies can be slow coming in and sometimes schedules can be underestimated but when a company builds a reputation for slow response to their customers at some time or another they need to step up and take responsiblity and address the issues. After all, numerous complaints is what degrades customer service. Sometimes it's not about the quality of your product as much as your concern for your customers.
carolinamike
I would like to add that if it's a stock mold and Del has it made on the shelf, they are very quick to get these molds sent out. Just be sure to ask a lot of questions, so you understand if there will be any wait time.
Senkosam
Mike hit it on the head and - He is probably better off not dealing with the public directly, becausehe is too small to do that and produce his product at the same time. Too many disappontmens in service and at times no returned phone calls or e-mails. My top pour molds from Del have shallow sprues and need an exention (like the socket I suggested in anothe post) or I get a bubble in 1/3 of the front of each bait. He had excuses saying it was the way I poured or that I should pre-heat the mold. Bull! Once Bear came out with extended sprues I was happier than a pig in you know what! Bear and Bob are first class and always bend over backwards to give good customer service or correct a mold's problem immediately. It doesn't take too many bad experiences, especially unexpected, unexplained long delays before I ask for my money back, take my business elsewhere and warn others what they might encounter. Before Lurecraft was taken over, Dave had the same problem, (I think that was what his name was) and new management made the company a pleasure to do business with. Senkosam
That's him. I bought molds from him when he was in direct competition with Del.
