Sticky Plastic

Recommended Posts

Painter, I believe Mike is on this one.  I used another brand and I forgot to "shake" up the container first.  The first several baits were very tacky/sticky and would not cure.  I then shook up the container and did it again and all of my baits have been perfect after that.

Plastisol tends to pack or settle over time unless you shake or mix the plastic once in a while.  Some are better then others, but all will settle to some extent.

In addition to making sure it is well mix, make sure you get it to 350+ or it may not completely change state. I suspect the required temp may be slightly different from brand to brand ...depending on the plasticizer they use.

CC needs to get to 350.

Thanks guys.  I bought the plastic in 2.5 gallon containers and shook it the best I could.

The CC comes in 2.5 gallon boxes and is a bit easier to shake, but neither is easy.  I used the Calhouns within days of recieving it but it may have sat for awhile.

I will be certain to shake the next batch better.  I don't think temp is an issue.

Actually, with the CC, in the boxes, I would just turn it over for a half an hour, then turn it over again, then again................ do it 4 or 5 times when you first get it and then do it once every month or so after that.  Shaking a full container does not work that well, and the boxes have a liner in them so you never get any head space or spare room.
