BrownPigs
I have seen several pictures of spraybooths. Does anyone have any info on the advantages, how they work, and how to build one or where to buy one? Here is some pictures of one
Brent R
Depends on what you want to spray in it....???
BobP
If you spray water based acrylics, some of the overspray becomes acrylic dust which will accumulate in a spray booth. The dust will contaminate later crankbaits unless the booth is cleaned regularly, or it needs to have an exhaust system and a filter. For me, it has been enough to paint in my garage and use newspaper to mask the bench I use. If you are spraying solvent based liquids, that's a whole other matter. Several TU'ers spray solvent based paint or topcoats and use booths, usually home built. Edited March 30, 2013 by BobP
hazmail
A lot here http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+make+spray+booth&page=1 I made this one using a house ducted gas heater fan, works great-- The 'Tardis' See twin fan motor at top. When it gets hot in the shed, I open the door, also good to tinker with it. Decreased opening to increase air speed and decrease spray 'blow back' Have since reduced ducting length which increases air speed/efficiency. Cost about $80 not including fan. mark poulson
Pete, Very nice. Since you named it the Tardis, I will be able to get my youngest to actually take a look at it. She is a huge Dr. Who fan, and had a dozen of her friends over last night to watch the latest episode. Of course, once she sees its a paint booth, she will be pissed, but that's what dads are for. What the heck! Hahaha

mark poulson
Pete, She had her 18th birthday party this last Sat. night at my house, and the 15+- high schoolers who came were all lined up on the sofa and in chairs to watch the latest Dr. Who episode. They hung on every word. Whoda thunkit? I'm going to miss her when she goes to college in Toronto this fall.
hazmail
Thought she must have been much younger, they have that cult following here too,, go figure I remember seeing it when I was a kid (50 years back I reckon ). Pete
mark poulson
Yeah, that's when I watched it, too. Lots of dry ice fog and hokey monsters back then, but it was fun. She says they're on Dr. number 13 now, so the series has survived a long time.
