fhsfish
hello again everybody I'm waiting on my plastic and other supplies to get here and I'm wondering if anybody has any advice on color blending. I'm looking for formulas or ratios or something similar to mix basic colors into "common" colors you see in soft plastics

Smallie
As you get started, keep a notebook in your pouring area. Keep track of the amount of plastic in ounces, brand of colorant, number of drops used, and amount of glitter. If you are making Senko's, you will also need to record amount of salt and amount of softener. I used MS Excel to make a spreadsheet. I printed a number of sheets out and keep them in a loose leaf binder.
fhsfish
thanks for the replies. I checked out the cookbook on here and it seems to be full of good info. I was also wondering if anybody has any advice mixing my own color blends i.e. mixing red and blue to make a purple/grape color?
smallmouthaholic
Experiment on white 67 weight, white card stock paper w /either two q-tips or toothpicks. You'll get a rough idea how the mixed colors will turn out w/out wasting a great deal of paint. fhsfish
Something interesting happened earlier...i was trying to mix an orange color (think florida gators orange) I mixed 2 drops LC Red 2 drops LC White and 10 drops LC Yellow to get the color orange I wanted in my mixing container(a metal cap) but when I mixed with plastic it came out very yellow with none of the orange color i was looking for. Anybody have any idea why? I use Caney Creek Crystal Clear plastic if that makes any difference
Slammingjack
I stopped buying LC colors Two times I got reds which were not the color it said it was. Bright red was more like ox blood way too purple. Tomato red is way too orange! must have been yellow tomatos. So I buy at Spike-it. Colors seem a little weaker(need more drops) but I got like 7 diff. colors and all were the color they were named.
