ravenlures
I am interested in painting some bucktail hair, what type of paint do you use. Would like to put some stripes on them, and how long do they hold up. Wayne
smalljaw
I don't paint bucktail but I dye it, all it takes is some rite clothing dye in the color of your choice and boil the tail in the color between 20 and 40 minutes. I sometimes add bars or stripes to a bucktail jig after I tie it by taking a straight edge and using it as a guide I go across the hair with a sharpie, mostly black sharpies. You don't just color it like you would a piece of paper either, you sort of dab the sharpie, I really like using quick coat lure makers for making fine lines on lures as the markers are actual paint but they don't work to well on bucktail but the sharpies do fine and they last a while, in fact I normally lose the jig before it wears off. BLT
Yes, I know people that use Sharpies. Last longer than most jigs do.
