ravenlures
I just started trying out mixing Bombay india ink with some Anita's White Metallic craft paint. It seems that you can come up with all the colors in pearl that you want. I did premix the white first. I wll be using on wood and plastic lures. I also wonder if anyone used the bombay by itself. It is thin. The ink was only $3.99 at Hobby Lobby and you only need a small amount. I would also think that airbrush paint Pearl White would be better to use. Any thoughts on this. BobP
Wayne, I've given up trying to shoot anything except airbrush paint - just too many hassles. Seems to me that dye would be a good match with metallic paints since the dye is translucent and allows the metal flakes in the paint to reflect light rather than be masked by paint particles as it would be if you mixed metallics with regular paint. As far as pearls go, you can buy pearlizing medium to mix with any acrylic paint. I guess all we can do is experiment and see how it works.
