mr max
I would appreciate any members opinion on a high visibility non braid line for use with spinning gear.I mostly fish at night in shallow water & use a short fluorocabon leader. My concerns are line memory, line twist & visibility.I prefer mono as it seems more hassle free but a hi-vis copolymer hybrid would also do the trick. RayburnGuy
Your going to need some sort of light source to see any type of line at night and if I remember correctly a black light will make regular mono fluoresce. Personally I don't like any type of light when night fishing. For me it's all about feel. Ben
mr max
Thanx for the feed back Ben.I do a lot of jigging in low light conditions where there is some ambient light and a hi-vis line would help.My concern is I want a hi-vis 8lb-10lb line with low memory that wont cause twists. RayburnGuy
Oh OK. I see where a hi-vis line could be of help to you in that situation. Wish I could have been of more help to you. Good Luck...............Ben
Bois d'Arc
Very light braid in the 8-10 lb, range makes a great spinning reel line. Super small and very sensitive...you'll feel every tap. No need to set the hook hard just a quick snap is all it takes. The stuff lasts for years. Its available in hi vis (mostly yellowish) and I've used it for a while now and love it. Now that spinning reels are using larger spool diameters even on smaller lightweight reels wind knots aren't a big problem. Downside is the small braid tends to be a little $$. BobP
The last time I fished at night, I used a light to see while rigging, etc. Clouds of mosquitos showed up in 2 minutes. A hundred bats showed up in 3 minutes. Not a pleasant experience.
Bassinfool
I know you said non braided but if you want really hi vis line that will last a long time then I can't recommend braided line enough. I have two hi vis braids that I use for wacky rig, shaky head and drop shot. The more expensive option is the Sunline SX1 braid which I have in 12lb test that I put an 8lb fluorocarbon leader on for drop shot/Ned rig. The other option that I have started using recently is the Daiwa J-Braid X4 which I have in 15lb test to an 8-10 pound leader for my wacky rig and drop shot. I really can't tell you how much of a difference the braid makes when you are catching finicky fish. The braid is super super sensitive and being able to see those subtle bites makes a world of difference. I truly believe if you try it, you won't regret it. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Sunline_SX1_Braided_Line_Hi-Vis_Yellow/descpage-SXHV.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_J-Braid_X4_Braided_Line_Fluorescent_Yellow/descpage-JBX4.html
