walleye warrior
i am looking to purchase a pound of chartruese powder, i usually use pro-tec but have been looking at other suppliers for this purchase. the problem is i am finding everyone seems to call their chartruese differant names. does anyone have any suggestions on what would match up to what i am looking for and any recomendations of brands. i will be mostly using it as a base coat for jigs, as always all your input would be appreciated. cadman
There is yellow chartreuse and green chartreuse and I have also seen another which I can't identify. If you are looking for better pricing because Pro-tec is so expensive, then I have not found a place thast sells it really cheap. If you look up Tiger Drylac, they have a lot of chartreuse colors, However, you need a white base coat applied first, and they are not cheap either. smalljaw
LPO has their own brand at 20 bucks a pound, some have had problems with it but didn't. I got a 4oz jar to try and it goes on good but I did use a fluid bed. They have both green and yellow chartreuse, and as I said, in a fluid bed it goes on really nice so you may want to give it a shot.

Try Eastwood Fluorescent Hot Green or Lime Green. They are looking like chartreuse. Price is about $6.99/4oz for first and $9.99/8oz for second. Fatman
Might help if you could post a jig painted with the color you're looking for. I've been getting away from Pro-Tec because of cost. I've purchased from Colombia Coatings, Orbit, Powder by the pound and they all work just like pro-tec.

gonfishn
Andy, what mold is that?
andy1976
It's a custom 6,8&10 oz shawn Collins mold. It's a great mold, but for the smaller ones 1/4-4oz I'm just having the recess eyes pinned on my doit molds. I do a lot of 4 oz and I like the doit mold for that as I pour and paint at the same time using two molds I can keep going without any pause. The colors look much better than the pic. mark poulson
Dumb question...can you mix your own chartreuse using yellow and blue or yellow and green powders? Edited July 19, 2013 by mark poulson
toadfrog
Yes you can mix to get chat . But it won't be the transparent chart . For that you would need Glass clear and the mica colorant . Takes a little tinkering . If you want the floresent banana color of yellow chart then mix the flo yellow with a touch of flo chart to taste . Kinda ike salt and pepper . andy1976
Sorry thought I answered this quone exception is using similar colorestion. You really can't mix powders to get a new color. The one exception I've found to this is mixing similar colors to get a different shade. For example a little of csi's flame red mixed into there glow orange makes a nice neon glow orange. I also plan to mix a little green chart. into my yellow chartr.
