RayburnGuy
I don't pour plastic, but I do fish a lot of 10" and 12" worms. I always use at least a 5/0 hook in worms of this size. I go "old school" and fish straight shank hooks and peg the plastic with a toothpick. After trying numerous brands and styles of wide gap hooks over a period of a couple years I noticed that it was rare to hook a bass in the bony, top part of it's mouth. It seemed I was missing more fish as well. I went back to using the straight shank hook and started hooking them in the roof of the mouth much more often. This is just my personal preference and I'm not saying don't use offset wide gap hooks. Others experiences may be different from mine. Bassinfool
I use a 6/0 EWG hook and make sure to bring the hook point all the way through the worm and barely skin hook it on the other side. This gives me a much better hook up ratio. If you can find them, give the Gamakatsu deep throat hooks a try, they're what I always use throwing these big worms.
