Great Service From Zeiners So Very Pleased

Recommended Posts

I had placed an order for supplies from them on the 9th...I decided to track the package because it was taking a while and it is not at all like zeiners. well the post office returned it back to them because they couldn't deliver it...I gave zeiners the wrong address I mistakenly had the last number wrong, in other word all my fault. I called them today and Talked to Dave and he told me he just got the package back and was about to call me in a few cause he recognized  my name from many prior orders, I gave them the CORRECT address and they are going to reship it today.....they gave me no hassle and were so very friendly even if it was my mistake...Thank you Zeiners even though it was clearly my fault you guys took great care of me

I talked to Jim about a mold they didn't have in stock and he told me when it would be there and how long it would take to ship so I ordered the mold and the day it came in he shipped it out and in 2 days I had it!!! I've don'e a good bit of business with them and while the shipping isn't cheap it is not even close to how bad Barlows has become but I too like Zeiners, really good service and prices!!

I tried them once and I wasn't happy with how my stuff was packaged. Had powder paint all over the inside of the box and all I got was an apology.

One of the molds I ordered was on backorder two or three times as long as they originally said. The date kept changing on when they would get it and ship it.

On the other hand I have had toatally awsome service from Barlows. Everything is always well packaged. I would gladly pay more in shipping if my stuff arrives in one piece. All containers of paint are taped so they stay shut and individually wrapped in newspaper so any molds or heavy items in the box don't break or crack the containers. They charge me actual shipping to AK which is nice. Any issues and I get an email right away. They always seem to have what I ordered in stock too.

I am glad Zeiners has treated you well. I have since decided I would rather deal with Barlows. I do occasionally order some stuff from TJ's tackle and they have done good for me also as has Janns netcraft.

I guess we all have bad experiences here and there. I used to buy everything from Barlow's, and then they screwed me over big time on some stuff, so I rarely order from them. I really have never had a bad experience shipping wise, but they are very deceitful and they will steal your ideas, and I will leave it at that. Since then, I order all of my molds from Jim Zeiner. I call him directly and speak to him directly. I have never had a problem with Zeiner's, most of their molds are cheaper than Barlow's or a matter of fact anyone elses. Also his shipping prices area lot cheaper for me thatm Barlows. I will continue to support the little Ma and Pa shop. I do occasionally buy from Barlow's but my orders used to be several hundred dollars a year. Now it's about $50.00 a year if that. Barlow's does have a bigger inventory and a lot of items which is nice if you have a bigger order. This is just my personal opinion to each his own.

When you live in Alaska you might as well just bend over when it comes to shipping charges from most companies.

Amazon will ship to me for free but others want to charge an extra Alaska fee above and beyond the rate for the L48 states.

I like conpanies that will fill a USPS flat rate box as they are cheap.

Barlows has always charged me actual shipping not some overinflated Alaska flat rate.

When I find a company that treats me right I remember and stick with them. Also it is a long way up here and I like to get my stuff undamaged. I am willing to pay a little more for stuff if It is packaged well and undamaged when I recieve it as a result of that.

Just wanted to give readers of this my $.02

I totally agree with you on shipping costs especially to Alaska, Canada or Hawaii. I have had guys wanting to buy my jigs from these places and the shipping cost is prohibitive for small places like myslef and maybe others. By the time I ship stuff we are talking over $20 for a $10 order. So I rarely ship to those places as I cannot get good shipping prices for them. So bigger places definitely have the advantage there.

You can send a flat rate box to Hawaii Alaska and I'm pretty sure Canada also.

Yep the same flat rate box goes anywhere in the US for the same fee.

A small flat rate box is only $5.80 ANYWHERE in the US. A medium box ships ANYWHERE in the US for $12. Thats up to 70 pounds of goods.

I wish more companies would use those flat rate boxes for shipping. The USPS will also deliver the empty boxes to your house and pick them up from your house when you are ready to ship them.

If A person wnated to charge me $20 for a $10 jig order I would tell them they are crazy and look elsewhere.

No offense Cadman but I just can't believe AK and Hawaii shipping cost you that much.

I will only ship jigs to people via USPS flat rate.

What is a bummer is my bigger jigs are 10" long so they don't fit in the small 8" long boxes.

You can always ship them in a flat rate envelope with priority tape all around. I shipped an overnight flat rate envelope to humbolt last Friday. Taped the corners all the way around and then ran tape across it on both sides. I've done it with priority too. 18$ When I can't fit all the jigs I usually stuff the small priority box in the envelope and then put a bunch more jigsdown the sides. I've had a lot of customers tell me " ill take as many as you can fit for $5.80 shipping. Got sixty 4 oz jigs shipped for 5.80.

Andy and Kasilofchrisn,

I use flat rate all the time, so yes you are correct in that regards. I looked back to where this package was going , and it was going to be shipped to Canada and I also had a small jig order going to Australia. So apparently I misstated my information here. I had a package of 1000 Gami hooks I was going to send and insure to Canada, and they will only insure it up to so much for flat rate. If you want more insurance it cannot go flat rate but has to go differently. I remember the cost was quite expensive, and my customer had it shipped to a New York address.

Thanks for clarifying  that Cadman. Shipping to Canada is a whole nother price range I am sure.

I often see companies charge shipping and "HANDLING" charges. That way they can charge over the shipping price in handling fees.

In some cases I would rather pay a little more so my goods arrive well packaged and undamaged. As long as the fees are not extreme

If Zeiners had wrapped some old newspaper around the items in my order  like Barlows always does for me I would have never had an issue with them and they would have gotten a lot more business from me.

Sometimes the cheapest source isn't always the best source.

Thats just my $.02

I agree with you. I have had some bad 1st experiences, and believe me you don't forget it. It takes me alot to develop trust back in a company again after you have some problems. I've had my share as well. Edited by cadman

I've shipped large orders (in excess of $200.00) to Canada). Yes it does cost the shipper more money and time-to fill out the inventory paperwork required. The orders get sent priority mail-flat rate boxes insured.Orders can sometimes take up to 10 days to go through customs- after they arrive in Canada.- a bit nerve wracking for both the shipper and customer.Kindly remember the shipping charges include credit card fees. We charge a handling fee $2.00-$4.00 to assemble and pack the order- depending upon the size and complexity of the order. I certainly don't feel that fee is excessive.

Many companies have minimum order quantities-or a small order charge. It takes time to process, pack and complete an order- especially small ones. It's still cheaper vs. driving your motor vehicle to and from the store. That said,i use $amount brackets for shipping charges. Many times ,I inform the customer that they can add an additinal $ amount to their order w/out any increase in shipping charges. No small company is getting rich from the shipping and handling fees they charge.Let's not forget the 10% excise tax manufacturers pay on gross sales every quarter.

My personal preference is charging enough for your products to cover any handling charges or credit card or paypal fees. That's what I did on my one and only jig sale. They paid actual USPS shipping and my jig price included any fees or handling charges.

Some companies have great prices but extra shipping and handling charges negate any savings or even make the item cost more in the end.

I once bought a fishing rod from a mom and pop store that had free shipping on orders over $200 on a $180 rod. I bought $20 in extra tackle and they shipped for free..

For the same rod at the same exact price Cabelas wanted to .charge me the base shipping rate.of $20 plus an extra $50 in oversize fees.

The owner of the mom and pop store told me he had added $25 to his price to cover his free shipping guarantee.

The next year I ordered 5 more of those rods. I checked around and after shipping he was still the cheapest I could find. My box got damaged by the USPS and he was johnny on the spot sending a new box of new rods and he was going to inspect the other ones before he put them back on his store shelf.

Great price free shipping and top notch service. A company I have used again and will continue to do so.

I am not sure how a shop in Ohio can give me in Alaska the best price and service I could find on standup saltwater fishing rods but they sure did.

This was on a rod I could not find instate so I had to order the ones I wanted.

I do understand small order fees. I think Barlows has a $15 minimum. Thats fair IMHO. It seems silly to order $2 or $3 in merchandise anyway.

But IMHO shipping should be only that and the rest should be reflected in your product prices.

I've ordered from Jim too and have been pleased with the service. Last time I ordered, I think I fat fingered my credit card and Jim called me personally to straighten it out. NOW THAT'S SERVICE. You won't find a better price on Do It molds period....Thanks Jim!!!!!!!
