patrick reif Posted May 28, 2013 Report Share Posted May 28, 2013 My youngest son stepped on my favorite all purpose casting rod this past Sunday and broke off the top 8". It was a 7'1" Loomis Mossyback MXF BCR 852...I guess it still is, but in a 6'3" MH to heavy action rod. I was considering a new shorter rod for close quarter spinner baits anyway, and I really like the handle and reel seat of this stick so I'm going to make something from this and buy a new 7' Kistler Helium MHF for my next all purpose stick. The break was clean with no splintering or cracks that I can see with a magnifying glass. I'm not a rod builder and the array of tip tops out there is confusing. After I measure the tip with a caliper, what tip top do you guys suggest to buy? I'll be using 2 ton epoxy to glue it in place instead of the traditional glue.
