cintaskevin
Hey guys/gals, I have had the Basstackle 660 and 661 Swimbait molds and I'm going absolutely nuts trying to get this mold to produce laminates. I've been injecting for years and have never had an issue producing laminates for most every mold I have. Does anyone have these molds and if so, can you get them to laminate? I've attempted hundreds of laminates and my success ratio is probably around 1 in 20. Sucks!!!!!! I'm using a Twinjector with new O-Rings. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! http://www.Basstackle.com/661_Swimbait_p/661-kj-3.htm http://www.Basstackle.com/660_Swimbait_p/660-1-4.htm Edited May 31, 2013 by cintaskevin
Frank
What type of problems are you having? Those seem to be pretty straight forward molds. If it is mixing it is a temp problem. I shoot a lot of swim baits in the ringed version like that style. Maybe a picture? Not the good one the nineteen others. Frank
smallmouthaholic
Verical swim-bait molds produce better laminates vs. horizontal moklds simply because of the 90 degree turn the plastic has to make. That said, they should still produce decent laminates if- 1- the temperatures of both plastic mixes are the same-350-360 degrees 2- the viscocity of both mixes must be identical 3-make sure your injector is not drawing air Not looking to start an argument here but-the heated injectot of the shooting star system makes a tremendous difference since- 1- there is no cold blending block w/long paths for the plastisol to go to reach the mold cavities 2-The heated, dual injector of the shooting star system injector shooting straight out of the bottom of the injector. IBHUFFY1
Are the molds top inject or side inject?
cintaskevin
Top inject
Frank
Ok try this. Keep the temp real low like 300 and make sure they both within ten degrees. This should help with good consistent baits. This line of molds has a real small gate and if the temp are hotter the plastic sprays from the gate and gives it a mixed look. When you try this the tails will be a bit of a challenge so make sure and hold pressure just for a second to make sure it fills. I am assuming you have a way of getting the temps close to the same not by eye or feel. Frank
