mark poulson
I am trying to pour some Ika knockoffs, and want to add enough salt to match their weight. My problem is, whenever I get the color right, adding the salt changes it, making it lighter. I am using Bear's super fine salt. Should I be using a coarser salt, or is there another secret that I'm missing?
Basseducer
Mark, Try getting your salt right first and then color to taste.
mark poulson
TJ, I tried it that way, but I still can't get the color back to what I want. I'm thinking about cutting back on the salt, but I was thinking maybe a coarser salt would help. I was hoping someone here had run across this problem, and had the solution. nova
Mark; What I do is increase the colors little by little until you get the match you want. It depends on what you have for a formula. I don't know Bear's coloring so I can't help you there. I always add the salt to the plastic first. Did you ever use that foil? Basseducer
Mark, There is this stuff called "sugar flakes". It's like clear glitter. It does not have the weight as salt, butit will add a little weight. I don't remember where I got it, it was a long time ago.
gone2long
CCM/Do-It has HDA its a liquid weight additive I personally don't have any experience with it but if you go over to CCM's forum the guys over there are swearing by it. MonteSS
Pickling salt from Walmart will give you a much more clear bait and the watermelon should look better. Baits will not be durable though. Use two heaping tablespoons per 4 oz plastic. You may need a tablespoon of softener too. HD additive is great stuff but will also cloud the bait and make colors difficult to match ....Bill
mark poulson
I'm going to try some other salt. I have used HD additive, and it does work, but it does cloud the baits, too.
