chas48
So Im goofing around n the garage w/ some hard baits....sprayed white auto primer on them then cheap $1 WalMart spray paint on them.......hey they looked good so I sprayed clear polyurethane on them...........of course the paint scrapes right off........is there a clear coat I can use over this stuff to "seal" them or did I waste my time? bluetickhound
If you learned anything from this then no.... You didn't waste your time... What I have learned in my year or so making lures is that you don't HAVE to spend a ton of money ( although you easily COULD....) but going the cheap route rarely, if ever, pans out.... Spend the $$, get a good airbrush and Createx paints only cost $4.99 or so a bottle...
nedyarb
I've tried the whole save a few bucks route on clear coats. Believe me it's cheaper to just buy the tried and true epoxies! I'm not saying there are not some undiscovered top coats. But if you are not looking to spend a bunch of money just get some d2t or bob smith 30 min!

BobP
You can re-coat the lures with epoxy (Devcon Two Ton or alternative) and they will come out fine. Epoxy is one of the few clearcoats that you can add to any lure with no chance that it will react badly with underlying coatings. But explore some of the threads on epoxy to make sure you apply it correctly and get best results.
