Fish N Chips
I have been looking for a tube mold for saltwater use. i really like the action of the Gorilla Tubes on CC's video. It looks like they come in 4.5". I was courios if anyone has the Gorilla Tube of Flippin Gorilla and could give me a opinion on them? I am wondering which style would be better for saltwater use. Mainly on a leadhead for jigging. I do not think my 2-4oz leadhead would fit in the tubes, but maybe cast with a solid body and placed behind the leadhead. Also can anyone recommend any other large tube mold makers? I see a lot of smaller tubes, but 4.5" seems to be the largest. I have been using 7-9" toro tubes with good success, they are just hard to find locally. Thank You! Edited June 2, 2013 by MattS
gone2long
sounds like your doing them for yourself you can easily make a dipping rod to your size and dip them do a search on dipping good stuff on here.
Fish N Chips
Thanks. I do have a larger dipping rod I made from some large round stock. I already dip smaller tubes and hollow belly swimbaits. Trouble is the tails on the tubes. I made cutters out of utility blades but they tear and are difficult to cut properly. My next step was the fabric cutter blades, but I figured I would use the 40-50 dollars in blades and put it toward a tube mold. The advantages I see in the mold is not needing quite so much plastic (I am not set-up to horizontal dip yet), and no tail cutting (my biggest trouble). Of course the offest is the cost to get set-up injection molding. All my molds are handpour right now.
MonteSS
CCM/do-it has a 6.75" tube that is 1/2" thick. Not sure if that is fat enough for you.

Fish N Chips
Gon2long, that is very kind of you. I will take you up on the offer. I went into the shop trying to dip more tubes, but again it is the tails that ruin the tube when I try to cut them. I have been searching but large tube molds but they do not seem to exist unless I have a custom mold made, and I do not want to get into it for that cost. I think dipping may be my only option for the size tubes I need. I am planning to cut off my iron to the length I need and making it a horizontal dip. I have an old bread pan and hot plate I will try out. With my cups I can only get a 4" tube with vertical dipping, I want to get a much longer tube. The iron I have I can get a 2oz head into the tube which should work perfect. I appreciate the help and advise.
