Berkley Powerbait Scent

Recommended Posts

I was strangely just searching this last night, and in another post someone said the Spike-It "Fish Stinkum" was close to a powerbait smell.

CarolinaMike, do you know if that scent is the same scent that Berkeley uses, or just similar?

The best thing to do is to call them monday, you want to talk to Bruce, extension 106. Tell him that you want to get as close to the power bait scent as you can get, they supply Berkley so it shouldnt be a problem. They're closed on Friday

Thanks for the heads up.  I talked to Bruce and he's sending me a sample!

Hmm. I ordered the Fish Stinkem, which didn't have a picture on their site, and was surprised that it was a brown paste instead of a clearish oil. I wasn't exactly sure how to use it, so I just added the same amount of drops to hot plastic that I normally add of kickn' bass. The paste was difficult to get mixed into the plastic, and the finished bait had no noticeable scent to it. I'll have to try again with a higher concentration.

Have you tried yours yet?

I haven't tried it yet since it's not an oil...was thinking about adding some worm oil to it though.

Just thinkin' out loud here - how about slightly heating a small quantity of worm oil and mixing the "paste" to blend thoroughly and then add to plastic?

Worm oil smokes something awful. Best way I have made my own scents is to put worm oil in a mason jar then add say garlic or fresh coffee grounds and leaving it on the porch for two weeks in the sun and shake it up each afternoon when I get home. Do that with your paste and when the two weeks is up put it through a fine strainer and you're set.
