DodgeRammin920
Hey, guys. I know some of you on here use Lureworks Plastisol and I was wondering how well it floated with no salt, how it performs, etc. I've always used Calhoun's but am going to go with the Pourasol Medium. What kind of stick bait recipes are you guys using with it? Basically just looking for a little info as far as salt and softener goes. Thanks in advance. Bass-Boys
are you having trouble with calhons ??
Tree_Fish
The medium Pourasol is all I have been using for a few years now, it floats pretty well without salt depending on the size of your hook. I have been quite pleased with it and the few people I make lures for have never complained about it. I've caught several 9+ with it! Bassinfool
After trying some other brands, I stuck with the lure works plastisol because it works great and you really can't bear the price of it. I use the medium soft pourasol and add softener as I need it. Without any salt at all and a 4/0 super line hook I get a very very very slow fall. I don't have a stick bait mold yet unfortunately and I powder my own salt with a coffee grinder so I can't speak to the quality of their salt either but I would imagine it is a quality product along with the rest of their products. ipt
lureworks has great plastic, and the price is solid. soft/medium is a real good formula, it'll float just fine with no salt.
Slammingjack
I don't want to come off like the busted hinge. First I like their colorants. They even have a Y. chart. that doesn't bleed. I tried their pourasol hard and well, the micro bubbles were just too much. Very good price. I cook in a microwave, maybe that had something to with it. So I moved on to someone else. DodgeRammin920
Bass Boys, I never had huge problems, just looking to save some money. Slammingjack, I've heard things similar to your comment as well. After shipping, it looks like 5 gallons of Pourasol is only $19 cheaper than Caney Creek. Something to think about I guess. carolinamike
I talked to Bruce last week and Lureworks seems to think that they have figured out the cause of the microbubbles. I don't use a microwave and I use a different formula so I can't give any first hand knowledge of this, but Bruce seems to think that what they've figured out has solved this problem. DodgeRammin920, the last time I looked at Do-It's plastisol pricing, they were over $5.00 per lb more than Lureworks, but of course this is according to what formula you buy from Lureworks. How much was the actual cost of both plastisols, what formulas were you calculating by and how much was the actual shipping, and were these price quotes from Lureworks or Do-It, or did you calculate them yourself? I just checked both websites and 5 gallon Injectasol from Lureworks is $57.96 less than Do-It's 5 gallon plastisol. 5 gallons of Pourasol is $46.96 less than Do-It's 5 gallons of plastisol. So if I'm calculating right it costs $27.96 for shipping. So Injectasol would still be $30.00 less than Do-It. Is this right? I know 40lbs from Lureworks to NC is only $20.06. Do you know if their "fix" is shipping yet? I received a sample of their medium pourasol a couple of weeks ago, and with a microwave I had a lot of bubbles. Their price is good, but the bubbles were an issue for me.
DodgeRammin920
Mike, You're right. I must have made an error and looked at Gel-A-Lure pricing on accident. It's roughly $40 cheaper than Do-it (after shipping and in 5 gallon quantities). I'm interested if they say the bubble problem is being handled though. carolinamike
It was late last week when I talked to Bruce, the best thing to do is to call him, tell him you've had the bubble issue and that you heard that they may have solved the problem. He will probably send you another sample.

TroutSupport.com
I've been happy with it. It shrinks less than others if you are doing big bait. good clarity as well.
bluetickhound
Being a nOOB at this I had wanted to try some of all the plastisols I see mentioned here and see which worked best for me but I have to tell you.... I may stop the search if the soft pourasol I ordered today works out for me.... I noticed the 912 area code smallmouth posted and since I am a Georgia resident I like to support the local folk whenever possible. Not ten minutes after I placed my order I got a call from Statesboro and the voice on the other end was as pleasant and helpful as i have ever experienced with ANY company I have ever done business with, even going so far as to offer samples of other products I may have wanted to try out, which I took them up on.... There is a scent additive I want to try to see how well it works.... Let me be clear here.... I am not pimping one company over another nor do I wish to resurrect the great plastisol debates I have seen here after using the search function to see what other brands are available.... I mentioned to the person that called me that I first heard of them through TU and they seemed genuinely glad to know that... If the pourasol turns out as clear and flexible as the plastisol I am currently favoring I will most definitely switch...
carolinamike
I'm with you all the way on this one Bluetick. Out of all the companies I've delt with, these guys have never hesitated to help me. Some of the folks there have over 30 years of expirience in the plastic bait industry and their knowledge and expirience is very apparent when you come to them with a problem. By far I'm not saying anyone's plastisol is better than anyone else's, its always a personal preference but for the price and customer service these guys are hard to beat. bluetickhound
Really happy with the flexibility and clarity of the LW i got yesterday.... The stuff smokes like crazy though!! I didn't experience any more bubbling than with the MF but i use hotplates and stir slooooowwwwwwly... Do I need to heat this stuff more gradually than the MF? I did experience some pourability issues but i'm chalking that up to operator error at this point. I feel like once I get used to LW I'm really going to like it. I will be trying some plastisol from another local supplier I found out about yesterday and will decide between those two. My gut is that I'll end up using a lot of both!! BigLewers
If i were to by some LureWorks plastic, what would be the best to buy? I use a microwave and sometimes a presto pot.
Bassinfool
I prefer the medium soft pourasol personally, but a good all around starter is their medium. That way you have the option to add softener or hardener as you wish.
BigLewers
I use Caney Creek or Do-it right now. But I like the lureworks plast. The Med/soft is awesome. So I can use the pourasol in a presto and in the microwave?

daveh
I ran out of med plastic so i decided to try spike it`s medium Pourasol. 2 1/2 gal. It`s ok but boy does it stink.Smells like store bought plastic.Let the baits sit over night and they still smell.Have to drown it in some garlic scent i guess. I love there colorants but will no buy there plastic again.
