How do you clean/prep your lead heads before you powder paint them?

You don't need to prep them. One thing I like to do is coat them with harbor freight white. Light coat. Then heat and dip them in another color. I do a lot of big jigs though so the base saves me on more expensive paint.

If you have lead casting that have been laying around for a while, they can oxidize.  The powder coat may not adhere well.  Dipping or soaking in white vinegar will remove the oxidization.  Let the heads air dry completely and then paint.
