patrick reif
Many years ago I bought a plug from a back country store. I can not remember the name of the bait or the company that produced it. I do remember it was made in Louisiana. It was about 2.5"-3" long, had a cupped nose like a Pop-R, 2 notches cut along the body bilaterally about 1/4" deep, and a prop on the tail. I caught hundreds of smallies on this thing until I lost it squirrel fishing the tree tops. Does anyone remember this bait, and what was it? bluetickhound
I'm sure this isn't it but it might be a suitable replacement... http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/bassboard/fishing_tactics/message.html?message_id=315070
TN-BROWNFISH
Sounds like a Johnny Rattler to me but I think they may have been made in Florida.

TN-BROWNFISH
Actually the last bait listed on bluetickhound's link is the bait I was talking about...
patrick reif
Actually the last bait listed on bluetickhound's link is the bait I was talking about... That was the bait for sure. I had the smaller two hooked version though. I think I may go buy a dowel rod and try to make it with a pocket knife, orbit sander, spray paint and some DT2. As rough as it'll look, it'll likely catch fish.
