A-Mac
anyone here use microfibetts for the tail on their baits? I am wondering where ya buy them in large quantities? Unless you are wanting some crazy colors, I suggest using paint brush bristles... much cheaper. I used to get different colors from Sportsmans Warehouse from the fly tying section. These were not in large quantity though.
biggamefish
a-mac how is one suppose to put them on the baits? glue? lol
A-Mac
I super glued or hot glued them in place before clear coating the lure with D2T. Do not use etex epoxy, it will run down the fibers and ruin them. That is how I did it anyway.

EdL
go up to the top of this forum page and enter "John Hopkins DVD" in the search box. You find your answer in one of the listings. The search function on this is a great source of all kinds of information. I have found out answers to questions I hadn't thought of yet. AND you don't have to wait for somebody to answer. clemmy
I don't use them for swimbaits, but Fly Tyer's Dungeon usually has great prices.. Craig
biggamefish
Craig besides microfibetts what can one use on a 2 piece swimbait to have good movement on the tail section?

clemmy
Biggamefish, I meant that i use microfibbits for fly tying, not for swimbaits, as I don't make swimbaits. But in answer to your question, off the top of my head: bucktail, feathers, flashabou, yarn, poured plastisol, wood tail, cut silicone sheeting, silicone skirting, craft hair, medallion sheeting, rabbit, pork, thin lexan, thick mylar, epoxied "real" fins, etc. Just depends on what you are after... Nathan
You forgot zonker strips Clemmy...5 minute epoxy the strip in place and let dry for a hour...Then rub some clear silicon between your thumb and for finger and pull I through the fur and pull into the shape of a tail..let dry and trim to shape
clemmy
Lol, i included rabbit... If you bought a pelt, you could even cut tail shapes, and you wouldn't even need silicone Craig
