Ed_White
I made my first ever soft plastics yesterday, in both bondo and pop molds, and then used some Sally Hansen Hard as Nails to glue some eyes into their sockets, lasted about an hour in the ocean this morning before they were gone. Any ideas? I have both hard epoxy eyes and some newer soft plastic eyes from Lureworks... Also, Thanks TU for the wealth of info to be found here, I started out tying teasers, then making wood swimming plugs, then pouring bucktails, and finally I find myself trying to mold soft plastic and get it to do what I want it to do. Rest assured I will be asking many stupid questions over the coming weeks. Striper season will start up in October for me, my mission is to have a 6" sand eel flaptail look-alike ready and looking good by then. Need to work on my molding skills. (I'm injecting into a mold that has a hook/weight in it already) and work out why I have some voids here and there.
Frank
If you use the Lureworks soft ones they have glue for that on the site it is called fixalure. Put a drop in the hole press the eye in and put a drop on top. This will melt it on pretty much make it part of the bait. That will take care of those. On the hard eyes you can put a drop of super glue then dip the head in clear plastic. This will not be permanent but will work for awhile. Good luck and hope the next time a fish rips the eyes off for you. Frank
