Lipped Soft Plastic

Recommended Posts

Shoot the whole lure if you have a mold already . Cut off the head . Put the body back . shoot it again with some plastic that has a lot of hardner . Do this quick as you can so there is not much cure time . Makes for a better bond . It won't matter if the weight is inside or out as long as the bait is balanced for the retrieve .

I believe it was Yum that had something similar to what your describing. The bait had a metal harness located inside a soft plastic body. I'm not sure what the name of this bait was or even if they still make it, but it does give credit to your idea. If you were going to have a hard plastic diving lip with a soft plastic body I would think you would need some type of inner harness to anchor the lip so it would transfer the force of the water against the lip into a swimming action.

Dink has it right. I have two Dancin' eels... Bill Dance endorsed (and possibly designed?) these baits... It was a neat idea but the ones I have are bad to foul hook on the cast and quite honestly, I never caught a single fish (yet...) on either one of mine....

It should have been a single top hook bait, I guess.
