Basically a soft plastic swimbait that also has a soft plastic crank bait style lip under where the eye of the hook would go? Is this even plausible or would there be too much going on? mark poulson Posted July 28, 2013 Report Share Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) I don't know if it's practical, but it seems like it would make for a really erratic retrieve if you mounted it on a jig head, and swam it like a crankbait. Put the body back . shoot it again with some plastic that has a lot of hardner . Do this quick as you can so there is not much cure time . Makes for a better bond . The bait had a metal harness located inside a soft plastic body. I'm not sure what the name of this bait was or even if they still make it, but it does give credit to your idea. If you were going to have a hard plastic diving lip with a soft plastic body I would think you would need some type of inner harness to anchor the lip so it would transfer the force of the water against the lip into a swimming action. It was a neat idea but the ones I have are bad to foul hook on the cast and quite honestly, I never caught a single fish (yet...) on either one of mine....
