nedyarb
I hang my lures from the front line tie also. It keeps the gst from building up on the lip!
Cougarftd
I have been doing 3 coats around 24hrs apart. I basically dip them when I get home from work each day. In previous posts some people have re-dipped them in just a couple hours without a problem. I'm just not in that big of a hurry. I dip them and then work on something else if I have time. One thing I found with this stuff...if you take a minute after you dip the lure to touch the bottom of the bait on a paper tower a few times to absorb the drips your not left with a big blob on the hook hanger or the tail of the bait. IMO it saves a bunch of time when your throwing the hooks and split rings on. Even running a toothpick through the hook hanger hole a couple times helps. If you've used this stuff you already know that after you dip a bait the run-off is very minimal anyway. Even with the second and third coat you only get a few drips and that's it. It's almost like the coat your applying melts into the previous coat. This for best result Bryan
Mad Moose Baits
Sorry guys I think my last post is confusing. I dip them, lip and all Hang them by the line tie Then I hang a small wire from the back hook hanger to draw away the excess. Hope that helps. Does the additional wire stop the goop around the tail hook? I drill them now and it's a pain.
PondBoss
Also would any lacquer work as far as being a solid top coat? When I look online I can't find the Eagle Supreme and the people at the stores have no idea what I'm talking about. My local Ace just has lacquer sealants, wondering of that may do the trick as well? nedyarb
After I dip my lures I hang them from the bill, I then wipe away the goop on the bottom hanger with a small piece of paper towel. It doesn't build up again, it seams to stick to the lure in a couple minutes.

rhersh
I do my lures just as nedyarb does. But then I run a toothpick through the hook hangers wipe the toothpick and then run them through the hanger again. Then when it is dry I use an xacto knife to scrape off what is left on the hangers, seems to work for me anyway. Royce

Silo1688
I went to HD the other day and bought some, just go to the paint dept and ask to be shown where the concrete sealer is. It'll be there. I bought the one with 'clear high gloss'. I played with it and am still an ACC fan, sorry guys.

I have looked at a bunch of home depots and still haven't found any....All of them say they don't carry it and can not order it. I also have called a lot of other stores with no luck. If you where not using Eagle Supreme you were not using the right stuff....At least that's what i've been told.
A-Mac
Has anyone tried turning their lures after dipping in eagle supreme or gst with good success? I notice that regardless of the clear that I dip, the top of the lure (highest point) will have a thinner coat. I've been trying to think of a way to hang the lure upside down on every other dip, but I can't think of a way to prevent the sealer from going down the lip. It's not a big deal after applying 4 coats, but it's just something that irks me.
rhersh
A-mac I had some old cranks that had some ugly worn looking bills on them, so the other day I sanded them and tried epoxie, I didn't like the look of it so I sanded the epoxies off and brushed on some MCU pretty heavy, put it on the turner and it and it worked out pretty good. Don't know how it would do with GST but worth a try. I know its not dipping, but worth a try I think. PondBoss
My experience with MCU is that it will peal from the lips after a tough day of fishing and being beat up against rocks, stumps, etc. haven't noticed pealing in my square bills but on deeper divers for sure. JMO Royce Thanks rhersh, I'm thinking dip, let hang for a couple minutes to let most of the excess drip off, and then put them on the turner. I'm glad turning worked for you with the mcu. I love using 3d eyes, but they don't seem to get as much coverage on the edges as I would like. I'll try this out on 1 lure first. Thankfully, this stuff settles pretty fast so I should be able to acquire results quickly. I'm going to make sure that I wait the full 24hrs between coats though. rhersh
A-Mac! Your welcome. Kinda funny I did this just yesterday morning. I don't think I have found anything that covers edges the way I would like it to. I hope your experment works for you. Let us know how it works. baseball24311
Hi guys been creepin on this site now for a few months and have to say this site is awesome! Been reading all the posts about this gst and wanted to give it a try since I have a can from a past project. I first tried it on some 1.5s and it worked great. Then I tried it out last week on some DT 10 KOs and noticed a few small wrinkles in the paint. I figured I didn't heat set every layer enough. Then I tried again on some more DT 10s that I took my time and really heat set everything. I let them sit for a few days and decided to dip tonight and the paint really wrinkled up. My question is it my base coat? I am spraying krylon fusion for a base coat and I am wondering if that is causing thd problem? And on the 1.5s that looked great I used an old can of white primer I had lying around. Anyone have any ideas really frustrating painting up a few baits that look great and then go to dip them and have them look like crap. PS using all createx besides the base coat. Should I bd using a createx white for a base? Any help would be great.

Every time I spray a new coat I heat set it. I have had no wrinkles.

Cougarftd
Maybe I missed it but how are the results on wooden baits? I used it on a couple of basswood baits...he wanted the woodgrain in the pattern. I did 3 dips and it was outstanding. I gave it a lot of cure time before painting.
