jthornton0604
I just found TU yesterday and am amazed at the wealth of information I have seen thus far. Living in WI, and dealing with winters that last well past the point that they should....I need a hobby. I decided I would make my own spinnerbaits and give them out as gifts, if someone wants to buy some great, if not, more for me. I have a ton of questions but my first is this: How the heck do you organize all of the parts....? I was thinking of using a tackle box for blades, clevices, o-rings, etc. But what do people do to sort out the skirts? one more question... Which site is best for ordering, and why? lurepartsonline.com jannsnetcraft.com j-maclures.com barlowstackle.com Thanks for any and all assistance!!! RAWJigs
First of welcome to the forum. I am going on 3 years of pouring my own jigs and making a small business out of it. I love doing it. For 3 years I wanted to know the same thing. When I am slow, I pour the mess outta some jigs to get ahead and store them inside. I got boxes from work to store all the heads I pour, keeps me a bit more organized. My skirting, I was told by another member on another board about how he does it ... Plano boxes. I put the dividers in the middle, and the one that you cant put in, cut to fit and hot glue it in. You can comfortable fit 100 tabs of each color. It has kept me more organized. Over each color, I have the color name and Item number with the site I got it from. Each box is labeled as B1, B2, ect. Each tab color has a label on it as T1, T2, ect. I have it where if I have a brain fart I can look at a chart and it will tell me how much of each tab, so it would read as 1 tab of B2T8 and 1.5 of B4T7 ... that has helped a lot. Same thing with my weedguards, my oring collars.and such. I have 1 tab I order from Lurepartsonline, and the rest is from fishingskirts.com ... all my weedguards are from fishingskirts and hooks and molds are from Lurepartsonline. I hear zeiners is great, but I have been doing business with these two companies for 3 years with no problems. get your some teflon pins to powder paint with also ... good luck and ask anything you need to and someone will answer the question! subsailor618
Like RAW said, I like the Plano type boxes and other makes of organizer boxes for various parts. For the smallest parts; split rings, clevises, etc., I use some of the drawer organizers. Same thing, label each compartment with item, size, color, make, model and to make it easier on me, I attach 1 item on the face of the drawer with hot glue so I can see at an instant what is in each one. Oh, and I like to include where I purchased from also. Truth be told, i got the ideas from my wife and oldest daughter on how they manage and organize their crafting stuff. jthornton0604
Thank you for the replies. Plano boxes makes sense, and I like the name system to make things easier to find. Guess I need to make a run to Wally World.

BLT
Another good container....if you work some where they use electricians a lot, ask to have the plastic hockey puck size container the tape comes in. Sharpie the lid what size stuff is in it, stack on top of each other. I also use them to hold my jigs while out fishing. (1/48 oz. and 1/32 oz.)
