andy1976
I was thinking a red high temp silicone might make a nice injection mold for plastics. Just wondering if anyone has tried.

Just wondering if anyione has tried.imo you need to use rtv and add a solid backer to it. Pop is far cheaper and if you add a solid spine and make it a bit thicker it will be tuff as nails. Im doing one now. Ill add some pics in a week or so start to finish.
andy1976
Thanks I was thinking a more rigid silicone would be good.
Baitjunkys
Anything 2 part. Ive seen a guy make a mold with a caulk gun. Hard to capture fine details. Something that starts really thin is best.
djs
Yes I use smooth on mold star 30 to make swimbaits. Make sure you vent the mold as needed. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/10921-line-through-swimbaits/ http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/9905-top-hook-swimbait/ Edited August 25, 2013 by djs
andy1976
Those look nice. Do you have a picture if the mold?
bass100
I use alumilite's high strength 2 silicone and it makes injection molds just fine. You don't need to add a backer to the mold. When you clamp them together that is when you use a backer on each side of the mold (like wood or a stiff plastic).
