toadfrog
I Hate wearing gloves to do anything . So while injecting my crappie baits in lue of fall , my eye fell on an old thermos bottle I had on the shelf . This thermos had a handle attached to it by zip ties . That is when a glimmer of light hit me . It looked like it would fit my injector . Yep it did . Probably change to hose clamps to hold it on . But for now here it is for grins and giggles .
Painter1
Great idea. It will be interesting to see how it handles the heat. Gloves might still be a good idea just to protect your hands for 300+ degree plastic spillage. I'm looking around for something that will work as a handle for the Shooting Star injector. I have to hold that one with an oven mitt. Once, I put a piece of duct tape on one side to help me remember colors. It cooked off.
toadfrog
Look around for a bake lite handle on old appliances . I think they still sell this type handle for thermos bottles . I've used it for quite a while and haven't even had to change the zip ties yet . But they slide . That is why I'll probably go to hose clamps . Just scribe both sides of the injector. Laminates always have a light and dark side . So just mark it that way . One of those electric pin scribes run around 5 bucks .
ipt
i would not mess around with hot plastic without gloves on. i take it you have never gotten any 300+ degree plastic on you... once you do, you will take every precaution you can. my advice is to find some gloves that you like, whether it takes trying a couple or a dozen out. wear gloves or you will regret it. jbob
I like it! I use phenolic handles and on stuff that the handle has to be directly exposed to the heat source. When I make a lead mold it gets phenolic handles. I used cheaper plastics for injector plunger handles. I get both from McMaster. I was actually thinking about putting a handle on my blending blocks to make switching from mold to mold easier baitjunkys have a blending block with a handle check it out it works really well
