Edges Of Spoons

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have some concerns with some of the edges on my spoon finishes after clearcoating.. The main surface is rock solid.. The edges not so solid.. Is this a prep work issue?? I have been Lightly scuffing spoon surface / sanding edges with 500 grit sand paper..and knocking off any burs from the stamping process.. I thought the issue was completely resolved when I switched from 2 part epoxy to auto clear.. But a few of my spoons are still a little soft on the edges. All feedback much appreciated..

Do you lay you spoons flat to dry ?

Just thinking , that the still liquid topcoat would flow down the spoon's cupping towards the rim building up a thicker layer there , ..thus probably take longer to cure ?

I've done spoons with epoxy topcoats as well , layed them onto their polished reverse side to dry , but never had any issues like you .

I've covered spoons plated with hologram scale foil , aluminium tape or also glitter flakes this way , but using epoxy only .

Greetz , diemai :yay:
