littleriver
Thank you Jerry!!! We are all in your gratitude. I know I have enjoyed my time here at TU. What makes TU special is the folks that gather here day after day. I have learned more than I can ever give back but as long Curt and the guys at LPO keep the doors open I'll be coming back. Curt welcome, You have some big shoes to fill. Your optimism has me optimistic. Looking forward to seeing TU grow. Just don't forget what makes TU "TU". Say your a night specialist? I like summertime night fish as well. We use 1/4 ounce jigs tipped with plastic worms in thirty feet of water on rocky points and humps. Newbies call it ghost fishing because at night and at that depth it takes some time and practice for newbies to detect anything. Often missing fish, and swearing it was a ghost bite. How do you guys catch them in the summer heat? Vic
Mr Backlash
Hey everyone, I know that this site is in good hands. I'm a fairly new member but have worked with Curt in the past and know that he is one of the most qualified individuals as far as merging technology and fishing. I only worked with Jerry for a short time but would like to thank him personally for his time and effort that he put into this site and for taking the time to assist us with our business needs and questions. Curt, looking forward to working with you and TU. Jeff W. A soon to be sponsor and not so good lure maker
Robbie Roberson
Jerry, sorry to see you go. I'm sure you will be checking in often and hope you do. Curt, who better to run a bait making forum than an avid fisherman like yourself ? As a new member, I would like to welcome you. I am here because my wife and I are recovering from her bout with cancer for the last 2 years and I needed a place to clear my head. I am buying some hand made wood baits on ebay just for fun, and a search on google brought me here. I have designed a few hunting/survival knives for a major knife company over the last 11 years, so I have some experience in making things with my hands. I hope I could contribute something beneficial to this forum. Good luck and welcome ! smalljaw
Welcome Curt, I'm sorry to see Jerry go but I appreciate all he has done, I've made many friends on this site and learned a lot of stuff about the craft and I'm glad it will continue. I see LPO taking over as a good thing, I'm a long time customer and when Stamina turned into LPO it got a lot better, and they always add innovating products, I really love the bio-silk skirting they have but not just the products, LPO has been really good to me getting items they don't carry for me so I didn't have to order from another place and incur another shipping charge. If they run this like they do their business I believe we will all benefit.
Curt - NC
Even though it has been said it isn't the case......I think some are skeptical just because they see it as a business opportunity for LPO to pitch their company. I will admit I hate to see businesses get involved in what I think as a open site. I think others have similar feelings and would hate to see LPO incorporated into the name/overall theme etc.. . As one email I received put it they hoped it had just switched over and no one was wiser who was behind the scenes they feared it would be an extension of LPO services. Travis, thanks for your feedback. TU will remain as is for the foreseeable future. LPO will not be making drastic changes. The site will remain open, just as it has been in the past. The name and look/feel of the site will remain the same. Please keep in mind that LPO has already been a part of this site through our sponsorship. Is it a business opportunity? Of course it is, just like it was for Jerry. But we will not be forcing anything down anyone's throats. Our goal is to run TU in the same manner it has been run, but even better Give us some time and we will prove that this is a good thing, not the terrible thing that some are fearing. Curt - NC
Welcome Curt! I am seeing some of our TU members images on LPO site already ! Thank you! Curt - NC
Welcome to TU Curt. I have known Jerry for a couple of years now on a personal level and I also work with him as well. This has been a very hard decision him to make, Jerry has helped me alot in the soft plastics and has pointed me in the right direction. This is an awesome site with good vendors. If it hasn't been for Meeting Jerry and being a TU member I wouldn't even know how to get started in bait building. I just recently ordered your catalog and I have to say I love it, you have all components I need to start tackling my next bait builds. Just have to start saving money...lol.. Hate to see Jerry go but I know on a personal note that he left it to people who are going to take care of this site like he would want it. I wish LPO the best of luck and I know you won't let us down... Once again, thank you Jerry for everything.. Welcome aboard Curt... George. Thank you, George! You're right... Jerry poured a lot of time, effort and hard work into TU. And we respect that! But Jerry made the right decision. I can assure you of that. We know that TU is the greatest place on the planet to learn about lure making and we intend to reinforce that and make TU even better
Curt - NC
First off I'd like to thank Jerry for his years of dedication to this site. Lot's of you don't remember the "old" site we used to hang out in. It was poorly run and finally collasped. Jerry picked up and started this TU site. What a wealth of knowledge in the bait making field is repersented on this site. So thanks for all you've done. Welcome to LPO. Hope to see this site to continue to grow and be as well run and maintained in the future as now! You're absolutely right! The amount and depth of knowledge collected here at TU is incredible. I've been making my own spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs for over 20 years, so I have some experience and knowledge, but I'm looking forward to learning even more from everyone here

How do you guys catch them in the summer heat? Vic Thank you, Vic! I know that we have some big shoes to fill, but we are dedicated to filling them, and then some And yes.. I am a night specialist! Catching bass after dark is my forte' There's nothing like being on a lake in the middle of the night, when the air is warm, the biggest bass in the lake are on the prowl, feeling a spinnerbait come to a screeching halt and setting the hook, only to feel nothing move for a second or two! Oh and then that line peeling off! Gets me all hyped up just thinking about it The vast majority of my night fishing is in 10 FOW or less. I like to pursue bass that are actively feeding, cruising the shallows looking for prey. Nice to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you, as well as others here at TU

diemai
Always have my problems with things changing , .......it's always this certain grade of uncertainity , that bothers me , I guess . So well , ......Jerry , thank you so much for your relentless work for this great site , which has become some kinda institution to me (and surely to a bunch of other folks as well) through the past years , ........I'm wishing you all the best , now that you are stepping back from tasks and responsibilities . THANK YOU SO MUCH Curt , ......I've been a member in here for a couple of years now , became so much convinced about this site , that I have signed sponsorship , even though I'm so far away . I have made so many friends in here , leading great and fruitful conversations and discussion about the passion , that we are all into . I don't see it as terrible in any means......things change. Change can often be good, bring new life into things, break individuals out of slumps. You guys will be given a fair shake overall by most and if people don't like it then they will leave no big deal. I do see potential issues that TU didn't have necessarily as potentially existing now, will they be issues? Yes you guys were sponsors but a sponsor of a site is very different than the current scenario. I like to build lures just as most on the site and to be honest when I buy stuff I buy it from whomever. Some are concerned that if someone new was looking into getting into making lures they would leave a site like this thinking that one place exists. If the site moves in this direction the spirit and what the site was is gone and that is what most are concerned with. TU will remain the same in the foreseeable future.....yikes now you have me concerned based on the previous times I have heard that one. Will you now be forced to buy your supplies from LPO. Of course not. And it's not like we will be watching to see who buys their stuff from us and who doesn't. Let me reiterate that the site will remain as it is now and there are no plans to change that. Regarding my statement about "the foreseeable future", this just means that we have no plans to make any drastic changes. As I've said already in several other posts, we will be asking all of you, the TU members, for feedback and suggestions as to how to make the site better. I don't think anyone can ask for more than that

RayburnGuy
I suppose I'm one of those people that feels a little trepidation when things change. I fully understand that change is necessary for anything to grow, but it's a little like buying a new pair of boots or having your favorite shotgun stolen. You've broken in that old pair of boots and they feel good on your feet and you know the new boots will have to be broken in and aren't going to be truly comfortable for a good while yet. And that old shotgun that has accompanied you on so many hunting trips and feels so much like an extension of your body that you don't even think about aiming it. I can only speak for myself, but I hate to throw those old boots in the trash and can't begin to think what I would do if I lost my favorite shotgun. (probably do 20 to 30 years after I found the sucker that stole it) I'm more than open to giving Curt a proper chance to see what he can do for TU. To me TU is comparable to something like the Hope diamond. It's a one of a kind and you sure wouldn't start chopping it up into something other than what it is. That being said even the Hope diamond needs a little polishing every now and then. Again, welcome to TU Curt and if there's ever anything I can help with don't be afraid to ask.
