texacan84
If anyone out there makes home made molds with plaster of Paris and has a hard time getting their plastic to shine, I have a good tip. I design and make my own plastic lures and had a hard time finding something to make them shine. I tried everything that was suggested with not much luck. After you cure your plaster and I know this is going to sound weird but the thought hit me while I was at Walmart with my daughter as she was looking for fingernail polish. I picked up a bottle of hard as nails clear polish and coated the inside of the mold, after about 4-5 applications of it I had the shine I wanted. When I finally made my pour, the shine was awesome. I have been using the same molds for over a year and have had to only recoat one time....Just a thought I wanted to share with everyone....
texacan84
Yes it does work better than Elmer's glue. I also tried elmers glue and it and didn't work very well for me.
Travis
I wasn't a fan of elmers or modge podge glues. I have stuck with thinned epoxy and never have had issues with dull baits or loss of details. Might not be the easiest or quickest method but never has left me with bad results. texacan84
What type of epoxy do you use Travis? Willing to try it at least once.
Travis
Thin Devcon and then apply with cheap brush. It usually takes a few coats as it absorbs into the mold a certain amount of depth.
texacan84
Ok thanks...I will have to give it a try. Now another question. Where can I pick it up at?
Travis
I typically buy mine at Ace but just because it is less than a mile from the house.

toadfrog
I heated a pop mold up once and then powder sprayed it . Pain to spray into small openings though . Wasn't to shabby . Never did lose the shine on the bait .
