Fish N Chips
I was looking for a smaller swimbait mold to use as a rock fish "fly". I have been using a 3" big hammer swimbait with good success rigged weedless in the kelp but they get chewed up quickly. I really like the 631 and 626 molds but was curious if anyone has had any luck hand pouring either with a top injected mold? I saw Franks review on the 631 and it definately makes me lean toward that mold, although the 626 is quite a bit cheaper. I have been using the bug eye shad and love the mold and ease of pouring, and was curious if these would work similarily? I am just not set up for injecting baits, and do enjoy the simplicity of hand pouring. Thanks!
Frank
For sure you won't be able to hand pour the 631. I have the 626 and you should be able to hand pour it but the gate is pretty small and might be a challenge. The 631 may be a bit pricey but is well worth the money. In fact it's been my best selling bait for more than a year now. But if you are worried about durability it may not be for you as the tails get ripped of easily. Ferree
Frank, Do you link the standard or blunt nose 631?
Fish N Chips
Thanks Frank. I am likely going to break down and get into the injection. I just do it for the hobby, so it is harder to justify the start up cost. I really like the professional look of the injection baits. Perfect appeals to me although I doubt the fish care that much. LOL Ferree, I like the look of the regular nose myself. I am planning to run it as a drop shot bait. You can always cut off. the nose to put it behind a lead head, much more versatility. Frank
Like Matt said you could just cut the nose off and my customers do if they'd want to use a jig head.
