jtmoney
Hey guys, not sure if any of you are big on the big swimbaits for largmouths like the deps line, but i have a Q. So these lures use a rubber/silicone skin material over the wood, i started custom painting them with createx. Paint seems to adhere fine, but i know if i clear coat it i run the rusk of the clear cracking, espescially with the flexibility in the tail section. I was thinking of not clear coating them but im not sure if the paint will remain intact after i heat cure it. I swim these in open water so not worried about the paint getting too beat, just wondering if this is a good idea, or what you guys wuld recomend. Does anyone fish their wood lures without clear? Thanks, jeff *i posted this in the hardbait section and it was recomended to post it here care of the guru frank lol Edited September 27, 2013 by jtmoney
Frank
If you want to clear a bait painted with water based paint and remain flexible use the solvent based clear from spike it. It will seal of the paint and remain way more flexible than the paint you are using. http://www.ispikeit.com/Store/p-281-colure-coat-3000-clear.aspx Here is the right one.
