Bassinjunkie88
I'm thinking about buying this stick mold and wondered if using the twinjector on this mold would work for laminates? Does anyone have a mold similar to this that uses a twinjector for laminates? Thanks
smallmouthaholic
You may have a problem due to the location of the sprue. The plastic gets divided and may result in one color on one side and another on the other. I two color inject all the time but my custom molds are configured differently. Call Bears- he'll get you straight. DaveMc1
Yes it will be fine, there are only a few molds out there that wont laminate properly and they are due to the cavities not the mold layout.
MonteSS
That is a Del's mold and I had a hard time getting good lams with the Twinjector and that mold. ....Bill
Frank
That is a Del's mold and I had a hard time getting good lams with the Twinjector and that mold. ....Bill Just wondering what was happening when you try and laminate with this mold. I have a bunch of dels mold configured like that and really don't have a problem with laminates. Now if you were to say you were getting short fills in some cavitys I would say I have that.
gmintimidator
Would the Basstackle version of this mold twinject fine and not short fill? I like the OP would like to make some laminate stick baits.
Frank
If you are asking about the hand pour version with the Twinjector yes it will fill fine but you have to get a feel for when it's full. The injection mold will do just fine as it is set on its side but you need to make sure there is enough plastic to fill it as it takes a lot. MonteSS
If shooting single coloes in the Dels' 5" stick mold I get near 100% good baits. I inject slooow and hold hard pressure 15 secs. Then top off numerous times as the plastic sucks down. I shoot two molds at once With the twinjector I was getting swirls and tiger patterns ....Bill Edited October 24, 2013 by MonteSS

Real low temps are the key but any mold can be a laminate. It may not look right but it can be.
smallmouthaholic
Real low temps are the key but any mold can be a laminate. It may not look right but it can be. You need to have your injector nozzles perpendicular to the mold entrance cavities
biggun
Cooler temps as said before and make sure they are both about the same temp so they flow even.
