Henegar
I bought some in painted jigs and they have the weed guard on them all ready. I would like to powder coat then but I'm wondering about curing them in the oven . I have the plastic pieces from lure parts online to go over the weed guard, but has anyone else used these in an oven. Thanks
mark poulson
I coat with D2T instead of power coat if the weed guards are already in place. I haven't been able to power coat and cure them with the guards already in place without partially melting the guards.
Painter1
I have a bunch of the blue tubes that slip over the fiber brush-guards. You slip these over the guards and powder paint as usual. Give me your address and I will send you some.
Henegar
So once I slip them over can I place them in the oven to cure the paint or what
ReAxtion Lures
Normally, you can cure weed guards in an oven at 250 F for about 20 to 25 minutes. 350 F (as typically used for curing powder coated jigs) is too hot for the weed guard. Painter1
Yes, you slip them over the fiber weed guards and then bake the jigs. The problem, in my experience, is that the weed guards still deform. That's why I don't plan to use them again.
