muskiestalker51
I'm in the process of making baits simular to the 00 AC shiner. I'm using pvc for the body does anyone know. The size of the hooks I'm thinking are number 2. They are dipped in liquids plastic has anyone ever dried the plastic dip for coating
joliepa
can you attach a photo or something of the product? Top coats are absolutely the most talked about thing on the whole forum, and there is a endless demand for something waterproof, rock resistance, non-toxic, inexpensive, easy to use, non-yellowing, UV stable and stores well. muskiestalker51
I haven't taken any. Pics yet I have formed the body from pvc board an added weight waiting on the correct hook size. I'm thinking a #2 would be about right. Using the pvc I can see if the way they swim is what I'm looking for before painting.

I was not talking about the lure itself. I have heard of many kinds of top coats but not "liquid plastic" unless you are referring to urethane. Matt M
#2 hooks look right, IMO. I have no experience with plastic dip. I am still loyal to Amazing Clear Cast for a clear coat.
muskiestalker51
Matt I'm thinking the #2 hooks will be about right also I checked out the amazing clear cast do you know if it is as hard as Devon2. Is it applied the the same an do you need to rotate it or just hang it.
Matt M
I have not used Devon to compare it. I brush it on. It does have to be rotated. It is about the consistency of pancake syrup and it will run as it dries.
muskiestalker51
Thanks Matt I see where I can pick it up at hobby lobby up this way, I like the Devon2 and yes it needs to be rotated also it just gotten harder to find up here I have found it at he grainger
scrubs
Matt, do you need to use a rotating lure dryer or can you get away with rotating it every 5 minutes or so like I do with Devcon? And what is the smell like? I need to do most of this stuff in the house. thanks, bill Edited November 12, 2013 by scrubs
Matt M
You can rotate by hand but I got a much better result with my lure turner because i tend to forget to turn the lures. It has no noticeable smell.
