PondBoss
I have been using MCU for top coat and it's been great. That being said, this weekend I was banging and digging and the clear coat peeled off both sides of the bill. Has anyone had this happen before? How do I fix it or should I look at other means of clear coat? Thanks for the help.
BobP
If the bill is polycarbonate, MCU will not form a strong bond with it. The bond is better on plastic bills and I haven't had one delaminate, in fact MCU make knock-off lips nice and clear and is pretty durable. When I dipped lures in MCU, it would eventually delaminate from the Lexan and I used an Xacto knife to cut the loose flap away from the body. If you apply the MCU with a brush, you needn't get it on the lip anyway.
PondBoss
I am dipping the baits. I'm not sure what the bills are made of. I assume plain old plastic as they match the rest if the blank and are not inserts. The bodies have not chipped or delaminated at all. I just hate to tell a customer that it's bound to happen and to knife it off. Lol
RayburnGuy
I dipped the bill on a Mann's 30+ in DN a while back and it made the edges crumble. Not sure what type of plastic is on the lips of those baits, but my answer was to quit dipping the bills. Ben
bass01
I have had the same thing happen to me with DN especially the thinner bills like the 1.5 so I just stopped dipping the bill.
