muskiestalker51
My first attempt with pvc I really like how easily it is to work with. I'm really close to begin painting my question is do you guys prime the baits. Thanks for all this great info on here.
EdL
I don't prime but do put down the first coat of white or pearl white createx as a base coat.

j27
I like a little smoother surface to paint on so I use e-tex.

muskiestalker51
Finally got the airbrush out its been almost 3 yrs lol. I took 4 baits out trolling they ran great. Curious on how you guys put your hook hangers in do you epoxy them In? I used screw eyes, I'm thinking I might make my own out of wire twisted I'm sure they will need explained in this pvc board. bassguy
muskiestalker51, I used twisted SS wire. My baits are about 4 inches long and the hook hangers and line tie are around an 1 1/2" long and epoxied in. The hole is just about the same size of the twisted wire. I use a dental pic (metal) and straightened it out so I can slather the inside of the hole with epoxy; then I butter up the twisted wire and screw it in and wipe of the excess, let it cure and it's good to go. I've never had one pull out but I don't catch freight trains with my baits. LOL Jerry

SlowFISH
Like most above - I "prime" with white Createx..... i will apply a few coats and sand between to smooth the surface out if I feel it's a bit rough. As for hook hangers.... In the baits I make, I drill a 1/8" or 3/16" hold and insert a short ABS dowel rod (1/2-3/4") where the hook hanger is to go and epoxy it in place. I then drill/tap the ABS dowel with the hook hanger. The ABS is much tougher and I'm more confident it wont pull out. There are sites that sell inserts/dowels for this purpose - I just buy it online in 36" sections and cut/drill it myself. J.
