Spinner Bait Hardware

Recommended Posts

I am going to be pouring some spinner baits and buzz baits in the next few days. I am using #18 or .041 wire. I don't want to buy a lot of hardware that I may never use so what should I buy. I will be using these baits to fish for Black Bass here in Northeast Texas.

 spinner blades

 split rings

  clevices

  swivels

  beads and spacers

  buzz bait blades

  buzz rivets

I an using a do it mold minnow mold

Get Worth or Lakeland spinner blades, I prefer Worth myself.

Metal beads or oval plastic beads will work, you just have to make sure they have the appropriate size hole in them.

Worth ball bearing swivels, these you can get with or without split rings and they have their own light wire split ring so you can get the rings at the same time as the swivel.

For the clevis I would suggest getting the stirrup clevis and they can be had at any vendor, quality is pretty good with all of them.

The buzzbait rivets are available at all the vendors, just go with your favorite.

Take a look at Jann’s Netcraft for all of your components that you will need
to make spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.  They
sell everything that you listed and more.
Jann’s also sells these items in smaller quantities so you can mix and
match to try different combinations.  Here
are some links to the products you listed:

Rings

Wire Clevis

Bearing Swivels

Hollow

Since you're in Texas I'd go with Barlows, they also have the best deal on Worth ball bearing swivels, for the size baits you want to make you'll need a size #2 ball bearing swivel. If you want to buy the swivels with the blades attached, then go to LPO or Lure parts online, I believe they are $67 dollars per 100, Barlows is more expensive with the split rings on but they also let you buy the swivel and rings separately and that way it is cheaper. Janns only carries imported and Sampo which are good but I feel are the same quality as the Worth but more expensive. Janns is alos to high with shipping anymore, I used to use them but selection has gotten smaller when it comes to skirt material and other stuff and with the shipping cost like they are you are better off going elsewhere.
