baseball24311
Anyone know of someone who makes a knock off to the strike king red eye shad or something close? These are my bread and butter in the spring!
BobP
There are countless rattle baits on the market these days and the Red Eye is one of the best selling. I'm no expert on lipless crankbaits but guess I'll provisionally buy into the the idea advertised by KVD that the bait is a cut above because it has a life-like shimmy when you stop a retrieve and the bait falls. If that is true, I would be wary about any knock-off that purports to be just like a Red Eye because I'm certain it wouldn't have the same internals as the original and so would not have the same action. Hey, they aren't that expensive to begin with. I'd just buy some and repaint them if desired.

sonoman
Lipless baits are the deal here in central florida especially when it gets cold, ripping them out of shallow grass, and every one of them reacts diffrently so getting something that acts right and triggers that particular bite is key... its on my list to build a mold to make these things, yeah I know they are cheap but we go through a ton of these things...and just imagine weighting them differently so they do what you want ...thats what I'm after... saltshaker
As usual, Bob is on target. There are tons of unpainted knockoffs as options, but, being lipless might be the end of the similarities to the Strike King. I'm sure other designs will catch fish in your area with your same technique. Just pick some and give it a try. I'd do like Bob mentioned, tho....find some Redeyes at the cheapest price and paint 'em like ya want. Good luck.
