What Kind Of Epoxy/glue For Weed Guards?

Recommended Posts

The Loctite gel is the best, it only takes a drop or two depending on the size of the weedguard, it will dry white if you get it on the painted surface but if you put a drop or two in the hole you will be good to go unless you add so much that it oozes out, the bond is strong so you don't need that much. Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute epoxy is still the best and I use it when I'm making jigs that I'm also coating with epoxy, for small crappie jigs or hair jigs I just use the Loctite gel control and then coat the head with sally hansens hard as nails if the jig has eyes. Remember, regular super glue will not only turn white but it will wick up the fibers and make a mess so if you try out other glues make sure to use gel control. BTW I have used a lot and Loctite is the best I used.

Hmmm... Guess I was using too much of the gel then. I was worried the weed guards would pull out if someone tugged on it. I'll try it again.

Thanks

Yes, too much Loc-tite will make it overflow and look messy and cause enormous white powdery residue. Now the reason for the white residue, is the excess of glue and the vapors flashing off the Loc-Tite. Can't remember where I saw this, but if you put a small fan on all of your jigs with the weedguards glued in, the air movement will remove the vapors. I tried this and as stupid as this sounds, I did not get any white residue.

Gorilla Glue Super Glue will not clog the tip as will Loctite Super Glue. However,

Gorilla does not make a gel super glue that I am aware of. Gorilla Super Glue

is the best around for gluing grub bodies (Chompers, Yamamoto's etc.) on jig

heads. Applicator will not clog.

Switch to Loctite gel for gluing soft bait bodies onto hooks. No runny mess, glued fingers and a little dab will do ya!
