RayburnGuy
Hey I daydream all the time, Sometimes I daydream to much and forget what I'm doing, I got a lathe for Christmas so here comes the fun. I got a scroll saw for my birthday. So I am set at least part of the way. The imagination is the key component. Too late to save you now. All kidding aside I think you'll like building your own baits. It's a great feeling when you catch that first fish on something you painted, but it gets even better when you start from a pile of raw materials and build a bait that catches them. And your 100% correct about imagination being the key component. Best of luck to you on building your own. I think you'll find it quite satisfying. Especially when you start catching them on one of your creations. Ben
scrubs
Nice one Ben. I need to get going again on plug making. My "stick & tissue" model airplane hobby has slowed things down lately. bill
mark poulson
Nice looking bait! I'd hit it!

RayburnGuy
Thanks guys. When I finally started painting this one there still wasn't a definite game plan as to what it was going to be. All I knew is that it was going to start out being a bone color. After that I just winged it. lol Haven't seen much of you lately Bill. Good to see you back at TU. Mark, I've only painted a couple bone colored baits. What do you think about the bone I came up with? Nice looking baits Junebug. I still struggle with the airbrush when it gets much more complicated than fades or something that a stencil can't be used for. (suck at stencil making too) That's probably why I like building them better than painting them. Ben
mark poulson
Ben, Your bone looks good. I usually add either some transparent brown, or transparent yellow and metallic gold, depending on if I want a dirty bone (brown) or a warm bone (yellow and gold). I guess which you choose depends on whether you like your bone dirty or warm. Hahaha
RayburnGuy
If that "warm bone" has juicy cow flesh surrounding it then I'd definitely go with that one.
mark poulson
Me, too, especially if its a rib bone. I'm a sucker for BBQ. I tend to put BBQ sauce on my steaks, and I get a lot of grief from my kids for that.
