gone2long
I'm sure lots of folks will chime with excellent advice but to quickly understand the do's and don't there is a sticky on the subject at the top of the plastics forum
Lonestarbaitcompany
Before you do anything, I would check out a ton of you tube videos (along with do's don'ts) This like all other hobbies is pretty expensive, and very rewarding. Watching some videos might give you a head start in the direction you want to go.
Jig Man
After you've done some research, If you don't have a plan then you might want to consider some starter kits from some of the places like Bear's, Jann's or Barlow's.
ipt
read thru the forums, there are a ton of posts just like this.. maybe do a search for "starting" my quick advice is to do your research on everything and get the veterans opinion before you spend money. very easy to spend money in this hobby so might as well get it right the first time. lots of options so welcome aboard

Bassinfool
There is a post not to many spots down from yours on the first page titled "Starting Out" with a lot of good advice in it from some of the more experienced guys for someone who is also getting into the hobby. Give that thread a read and do a search through the forum for other threads about getting started as well as reading anything else that peaks your interest. When you're just starting out the best advice I can give you is to just be a sponge and soak up as much knowledge as possible. With this hobby, part of the joy is making your own colors and designs. You'll mess up plenty but the beauty of it is that sometimes those mistakes turn out better than what you were aiming for in the first place. If you can give the people here a budget and an idea of what you're looking to get out of it they can help you out even more.

toadfrog
Go injection up front . Unless you have a specific market for hand pours . Next pic a taeget fish . Then order your starter kit for that fish .Learn all the tricks involving that bait . Move to your next mold .
mark poulson
Post your location and see if there is an experience pourer near enough to you who'd be willing to let you visit. There's nothing like hands on/first hand instruction.
